How to Replace the Display of an iPhone 11 Pro
The iPhone 11 Pro display (5.8" OLED Super Retina XDR) is one of the best-selling parts in our entire catalog. This guide covers disassembly, Face ID sensor transfer, and testing. Average time: 25-35 minutes. Difficulty: medium.
Warnings Before You Start
- The Face ID flex must be transferred intact from the old display: if it breaks, Face ID is permanently lost.
- Disconnect the battery before the display connectors to avoid short circuits.
- The iPhone 11 Pro is OLED: heat moderately and do not bend the panel at the corners.
Required Parts
Recommended Tools
- Pentalobe P2 Screwdriver
- Tri-wing Y000 Screwdriver
- Phillips #00 Screwdriver
- Suction cup with ring + spudgers
- Heating plate or hot air
- Antistatic tweezers
- iPhone 11 Pro perimeter adhesive
Step-by-Step Procedure
- 1
Power off and remove the pentalobe screws
Fully power off the iPhone. Remove the 2 P2 pentalobe screws on the bottom edge.
- 2
Heat the perimeter and lift the display
Heat the edges to 70-80°C for 2-3 minutes. Apply the suction cup, create a gap with a spudger, and slide it along the sides to cut the adhesive.
💡 Tip: Lift the display from the bottom, rotating it like a book page: the metal clips are on the top edge. Never pull upward. - 3
Disconnect the battery, then the display connectors
Open to ~90°. Remove the tri-wing bracket and disconnect the battery connector FIRST. Then remove the display connector cover (Phillips #00 screws) and disconnect the touch and display flex cables.
- 4
Transfer reusable components to the new display
Carefully disassemble from the old display and transfer to the new one: earpiece speaker, top sensors, and the Face ID flex (NOT clonable, it must remain the phone's original). Follow the same assembly order.
💡 Tip: If you break the Face ID flex, Face ID will never work again on that phone. Handle it with extreme care. - 5
Connect and test the new display BEFORE closing
Connect only the display connectors (not yet the battery), power on temporarily and check: touch across the entire surface, brightness, Face ID, earpiece audio. If everything is fine, disconnect again.
- 6
Clean and apply the new perimeter adhesive
Using 99% isopropyl alcohol, remove adhesive residue from the frame. Apply the new perimeter adhesive starting from one corner, pressing firmly along the entire edge.
- 7
Reassemble and test
Reconnect the display connectors, then the battery. Replace the cover and screws. Close by aligning the top clips and pressing along the perimeter for 1-2 minutes. Replace the pentalobe screws. Power on and perform a full test cycle.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does an iPhone 11 Pro B2B display cost?
On InParts: INCELL from about €35, OLED from about €80, refurbished original over €180. The INCELL JK is the best-selling choice for value for money.
Does the iPhone 11 Pro Max display fit the 11 Pro?
No: the dimensions and connectors are different. 11 Pro (5.8") and 11 Pro Max (6.5") are not interchangeable.
Face ID doesn't work after the replacement, why?
In 99% of cases it's the sensor flex transfer: check the module next to the earpiece. If the flex is intact but Face ID still doesn't work, it's tied to the original hardware and cannot be fixed by replacing the display.
