How to Replace the Battery of an iPhone 14 Pro
The iPhone 14 Pro retains the display-side opening (unlike the base 14). The battery is among the most requested spare parts in Italian B2B repair shops. Average time: 25-35 minutes. Difficulty: medium.
Warnings Before You Start
- The iPhone 14 Pro opens from the DISPLAY, not from the back: proceed as with the 12/13 models.
- The Face ID flex and Dynamic Island sensors are delicate: do not stress the upper flex cables when opening the screen.
- Disconnect the battery connector before anything else. Never puncture the lithium cell.
Required Parts
Recommended Tools
- Pentalobe P2 screwdriver
- Tri-wing Y000 screwdriver
- Phillips #00 screwdriver
- Suction cup + thin opening picks
- Heating plate or hot air gun
- Antistatic tweezers
- Replacement battery adhesive tabs
Step-by-Step Procedure
- 1
Turn off the phone and remove the pentalobe screws
Fully power off the device. On the bottom edge, on either side of the Lightning connector, remove the 2 Pentalobe P2 screws and keep them separate.
- 2
Heat the edges and open the display like a book
Heat the display perimeter to 70-80°C for 2-3 minutes (heating plate or hot air gun). Place the suction cup over the lower area, create a gap and insert a pick; slide it along the sides to cut the adhesive. Open the screen like a book up to ~90°, supporting it with a stand.
💡 Tip: Do not exceed 80°C: risk of permanent stains on the OLED and damage to the flex cables. - 3
Disconnect the battery connector
Remove the metal bracket covering the connectors (Tri-wing Y000 screws). Use a spudger to lift the battery connector: this is the first step to work safely and avoid short circuits.
- 4
Disconnect the display connectors and remove the screen (if necessary)
If you need to fully free the battery compartment, remove the display connector cover (Phillips #00 screws) and disconnect the display flex cables. Set the screen aside on an antistatic surface.
- 5
Release the battery adhesive tabs
Under the battery are the stretch-release adhesive tabs. Pull them parallel to the battery plane, slowly and steadily, one at a time. Do not pull at an angle or they will snap.
💡 Tip: If a tab breaks, stop: heat to ~60°C for 2 minutes under the battery and gently lift with a plastic spudger. Never puncture the lithium cell. - 6
Remove the old battery
Once all tabs are released, the battery comes out without force. If you feel resistance, heat it a bit more. Never pry with metal tools on the cell.
- 7
Clean the housing and apply the new tabs
Remove any adhesive residue from the frame with 99% isopropyl alcohol and an antistatic cloth. Apply the new tabs to the replacement battery, then position the battery aligning the connector.
- 8
Reconnect, verify reading and close
Connect the battery connector (and display flex cables if removed). Turn on the device and check Battery Health in settings. If using a self-diagnosable battery or an original Service Pack, the 'Not a genuine battery' warning will not appear. Close with new perimeter adhesive and reinsert the pentalobe screws.
💡 Tip: Aftermarket batteries with a generic BMS show the 'Important Battery Service' warning: to avoid it, use self-diagnosable cells (JCID/DEJI) or a BMS programmer (JC, MAGICO, AIXUN).
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does an iPhone 14 Pro battery cost B2B?
On InParts it starts at about €22 (B2B). The upgraded 3410mAh JCID self-diagnosable version avoids the battery warning and offers more battery life.
Does the base iPhone 14 battery fit the 14 Pro?
No: capacity, shape and connector are different. Each model (14 / 14 Plus / 14 Pro / 14 Pro Max) requires its own specific battery.
Why do I see 'Important Battery Service' after the replacement?
This is because the BMS is not paired with the phone. Use a self-diagnosable cell or clone the original BMS with a programmer.
